ChannelBreakout

The Expert Advisor trades the low volatility channel breakout . The channel is defined by the pips average of last n period in combination with the standard deviation value in a predetermined period of time. EA works with a fixed target profit combined with a selectable classic or proportional trailing stop. It can works with every currency and every timeframe but due the nature of the strategy lower timeframes are preferred. Very fast to optimize (only about 20-25 min with open price only and 4 months of data), strategy signal is checked at the closing of the specified n looback periods, which significantly increases the optimization and testing speed. Here are the available optimization features.

• Entry from (hour/minute): EA place orders if current time is > of this setting.
• Entry unitl (hour/minute): EA place orders if current time is < of this setting.
• Day of week (mo,tu,we,th,fr,sa,su): EA runs only in the selected days.
• Lookback bars: how many bars in the past are used to compute pips average and standard deviation threshold.
• Max High/Low pips average: max pips allowed to define the channel.
• Standard deviation period
• Standard deviation threshold: max standard deviation value used to define a valid channel.
• Delta pips: number of pips added or subtracted to the identified channel. This level will be used as entry level for the pending orders.
• ‌‌Target pips: take profit in pips
• Lot size: EA comes optimized with 1 lot size, but can run also with mini and micro lots.
• Close losing trades: true/false.
• Close trade if loss >(%): close losses if loss is > x%.
• Use proportional trail stop: true/false
• Multiplying factor: used only if proportional trail stop is true (PropSL= Profit*Multiplying factor - Spread)
• Proportional SL pips threshold: trigger value to switch from normal trail stop to proportional trail stop
• Trailing stop: pips value. It will be used until profit = Proportional SL threshold

Backtest was performed for the GBPUSD on the history interval of November 1, 2016 - March 14, 2017 GMT+1, М15, Open prices and retested with every tick. Results of testing are shown in the screenshots. We recommend to optimize every 1 week.
